Tutorial #4 - Create A Web 2.0 Styled Speech/Dream Bubble

This is the fourth in a series of tutorials by Cozalli.co.uk, feel free to post your results :)

Learn how to create a web 2.0 styled speech/dream bubble that could be used as a logo.

This tutorial is very similar to the Web 2.0 font tutorial which can be found here, although the effects and outcome are different.

1. Create a new document, i’m using 450 x 450.

2. Select custom shapes in the toolbar (U) and pick the shape shown in the picture.

3. Create a shape about half the document’s size. Make sure it’s filled (alt+backspace) with white.

4. Right click the new shape layer and select Blending Options, apply the following settings.

Inner Shadow

Drop Shadow

Gradient Overlay

(#58b300 to #00db3e)

Stroke

For the stroke i added a dark gradient for a background so the white shows.

5. Create a new shape and fill it with white, make it smaller than the shape you’ve just been changing and position it like in the picture.

Then lower the opacity of the new white layer. ( I did make the layer smaller )

And there you go a simple Web 2.0 speech/dream bubble.

You can use tips from our previous tutorials to make more shines and improve the look.
